Our Story
Xin-Kai (欣凱) grew from a vision shared by Allen and Grace of a library and cultural center in the heart of Silicon Valley dedicated to inspiring a love and appreciation of Chinese culture. The idea was inspired in part by their family’s experience with the Book And Me Library, a program of the Zhaoyu Foundation. Xin-Kai is deeply grateful for the vision, guidance, and support of Vicky Huang, founder of the Zhaoyu Foundation, in helping to bring this project to life.
Leveraging a 3702 sq ft Library and Cultural Center in Sunnyvale, Xin-Kai aims to build and maintain a welcoming library and cultural center where children and families can discover Chinese language, literature, arts, and traditions while exploring the broader Chinese American and Chinese diaspora experience.
Through books, storytelling, arts and crafts, enrichment classes, STEM, music, dance, and other hands-on programs, we hope to create an engaging environment where children of all ages can learn, explore, and connect with each other and the broader world.
Xin-Kai aims to provide a community space for workshops, discussions, and educational events that bring together families, educators, organizations, and community and thought leaders.

Xin-Kai Cultural and Educational Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation and a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to inspiring the community to learn, connect, and explore with each other, empowered by the vast expense of knowledge and values ingrained in Chinese culture and tradition.
We welcome people of all backgrounds to seek and foster cultural understanding, creativity, and a strong sense of community.

Our Vision of Multiculturalism
We believe that multiculturalism is the essence and pillar of America – that the American experience is formed from many tributaries of sub-experiences. The root of America is thus found in 1776, and also in Jazz, 1863 (Emancipation), Cinco de Mayo, Christmas, and Chinese New Year!
With that understanding…
Celebrating the diversity of America as a strength – a dynamic interaction between cultures and traditions, a continual learning from each other – not a historical burden or relic,
Recognizing that America has a long complicated attitude toward people of Chinese descent (e.g. Chinese Exclusion Act), that the recent phenomenon of Asian Hate will probably not be the last challenge to face the Chinese or the broader Asian American Community, and
Remembering the struggles and accomplishments of Chinese Americans and Asian Americans in all walks of American Life,
We aim to:
- Create an educational and cultural space where families can gather, learn about Chinese culture, traditions, and experiences, and strengthen confidence, identity, and a sense of community.
- Organize events, celebrations, and seminars highlighting traditional holidays such as Chinese New Year, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
- Cultivate in America an appreciation for Chinese literature, art, music, and history, while encouraging their continued creative and artistic development.
- Build mentoring relationships and expand opportunities, both large and small, for meaningful interaction between community leaders and youth.
- Offer enrichment programs and services for students in areas such as Chinese language, art, meditation, music, dance, science, STEM, drama, calligraphy, tai chi, flower arrangement, Buddhist talks and seminars, public speaking, and debate. Programs may be taught in Chinese with English-language support, creating a distinctive cultural and educational immersion experience.
- Develop seminars, workshops, and other opportunities that encourage students to learn, participate, contribute, and grow. Topics may include leadership development, college preparation, career exploration, civic and social issues, technological trends, and current events.
- Support creative and expressive activities within the communities we serve.
